Week of 9-9 - - This week we begin to Change history.
Classes watched a video by Brad Meltzer entitled "Write your story, change history". The video can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LR7Vb6mqts . Students are writing letters to themselves about their hopes, dreams, and goals. The letters will be delivered at the end of their 8th grade year. Students also learned a bit about Spartacus and introduced themselves.
Writing Letters to ourselves.
Classes wrote letters to themselves about what they hope to achieve over the next three years in middle school. Parents are also writing letters to their child about what they hope they achieve as well. These letters will be delivered at the end of their middle school career.
We will never forget.
9-11
We watched a video entitled John and Joe and continued to discuss the idea that history is just a collection of peoples' stories. One student mentioned, “That is a really powerful video Mr. Storm. I really like how the father said he has no regrets about how he raised his sons. And that he was proud of them.” Tear.

Classes examined The Learning Code and marked the text as they read. Groups then presented their understandings of the Code to the class and how it applied to our class and our learning.
WEEK #3 - what will your legacy be?
